Resumen	The aim of this work is to characterize the behaviour of high modulus bituminous mixes with low penetration grade bitumen and high reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) percentages. Four mixtures with RAP percentages of 0%, 15%, 30% and 50%, respectively, were analyzed. Their volumetric and mechanical characteristics were evaluated for several binder contents to define a job mix formula for real scale testing. Mechanical properties included stiffness modulus, toughness, moisture sensitivity, resistance to rutting and fatigue resistance. The most important conclusion is that it is possible to prepare high modulus mixtures (HMM) with high RAP contents and good mechanical properties similar to those of conventional high modulus mixes. However, preparation in non-adapted plants, where RAP is not previously heated, allows a maximum RAP percentage of approximately 30% only. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.#El objetivo de este trabajo es caracterizar el comportamiento de mezclas bituminosas de alto módulo con betún de baja penetración y altos porcentajes de asfalto reciclado (RAP). Se analizaron cuatro mezclas con porcentajes de RAP del 0%, 15%, 30% y 50%, respectivamente. Se evaluaron sus características volumétricas y mecánicas para varios contenidos de ligante con el fin de definir una fórmula de mezcla para ensayos a escala real. Las propiedades mecánicas incluyeron el módulo de rigidez, la tenacidad, la sensibilidad a la humedad, la resistencia a la deformación permanente y la resistencia a la fatiga. La conclusión más importante es que es posible preparar mezclas de alto módulo (HMM) con altos contenidos de RAP y buenas propiedades mecánicas similares a las de las mezclas de alto módulo convencionales. Sin embargo, la preparación en plantas no adaptadas, donde el RAP no se calienta previamente, permite un porcentaje máximo de RAP de aproximadamente solo el 30%. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd.
